Psychological Therapists
12-Month Fixed-Term / Secondment Maternity Cover Opportunity (30 Hours per Week, 0.8 WTE) – Exeter Core Community Teams
We are looking for a qualified Psychologist, Psychotherapist or Psychological Therapist to join our community mental health team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract or secondment to provide maternity cover. The role involves delivering psychological assessment, formulation and evidence‑based therapies to adults with complex mental health difficulties, while supporting the development of psychologically informed practice across the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence‑based therapy for adults presenting with a broad range of mental health difficulties.
- Carry out a specialist caseload, offering advice and consultancy to patients, their families, carers and other professionals.
- Deliver clinical supervision and consultation to trainees, volunteers and other members of the community mental health team.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines, ensuring systematic governance of psychological practice for the local team.
- Participate in regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy and the British Psychological Society or relevant professional body guidelines.
- Co‑ordinate and support the development of psychological services, including project work, audit and service evaluation.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with Trust practice standards.
- Qualified Clinical Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol.) or equivalent, or Counselling Psychologist, Psychotherapist or Psychological Therapist.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or a recognised specialist regulatory body.
- Relevant Master’s level qualification or higher.
- Eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society, or equivalent.
- Experience in clinical assessment and treatment of adults across a range of settings (outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient).
- Experience of teaching, training or supervision of trainees, volunteers or junior staff.
- Broad knowledge of specialist services and NHS applications of psychological therapies.
- Excellent verbal, non‑verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and judgemental skills, with the ability to integrate complex data and make high‑quality decisions.
- Proven organisational, planning and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and thrive within a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel as required by the role.
30 hours per week (0.8 WTE). Part‑time and flexible working arrangements are available where possible.
