Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner (Reception Supervisor)

Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner (Reception Supervisor) at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Support the day‑to‑day supervision of the Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) team.
  • Assist in the analysis of pathology samples and preparation of pathological samples.
  • Manage material flow: receipting, storing, and stock‑controlling laboratory consumables.
  • Oversee specimen flow through the laboratory, providing guidance and assistance.
  • Coordinate trial work carried out by the laboratory with senior staff.
  • Perform general laboratory duties as required by the laboratory manager or deputy.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to implement and improve laboratory processes, reviewing and developing Standard Operating Procedures and related documents.
  • Supervise reception staff, coordinate workflow, ensure accurate receipt and processing of samples, and maintain high standards of service delivery.
  • Ensure efficient specimen flow while supporting quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a healthcare, laboratory or reception setting.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Working Pattern

37.5 hours per week.

Salary

£28,392 to £31,157 per annum pro rata.
