We are seeking a passionate Children's Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic, energetic and supportive Children's Therapy Team in Exeter.

This part‑time role offers the option to work all year round or during term time only.

Applicants must have at least two years paediatric experience as an Occupational Therapist.

The post will be based at Vranch House School & Centre in Exeter.

Vranch House is a thriving, well‑respected charity delivering multidisciplinary therapy services across Devon.

As part of the wider Therapy Service, the Occupational Therapy Service supports community outpatients aged 5–18 in mainstream education and children aged 2–19 with complex physical needs at Vranch House Special School.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities

Caseload and clinical practice

Manage a mixed caseload of outpatients aged 5–18 and pupils at Vranch House School aged 2–19.

Support children and young people with a range of physical needs, including developmental delay, neurological, genetic, musculoskeletal and oncology‑related conditions.

Provide evidence‑based assessment, advice and treatment, and prepare annual reports, EHCPs and therapy programmes.

Goal setting and therapy delivery

Agree goals collaboratively with children and their parents or carers.

Demonstrate and deliver therapy programmes and treatment through one‑to‑one or group sessions in education settings, at Vranch House School and/or in the Outpatient Department.

Communication, referrals and partnership working

Maintain clear verbal and written communication, including attending TAF meetings and keeping accurate, timely records.

Make appropriate onward referrals, including to Wheelchair Services, Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy CFHD.

Work collaboratively with families, education professionals, the Vranch House therapy team and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Professional responsibilities

Work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.

Supervise and appraise junior staff and students.

Deliver training and in‑service training to education staff, parents and carers, and the Vranch House therapy team.

Today, the charity provides Physiotherapy services across Mid, East and North Devon, Occupational Therapy services across Mid and East Devon as well as Speech and Language Therapy, Dysphagia and Music Therapy for our pupils at Vranch House School as well as a shared AAC service between Vranch House and CFHD across the county.
