Specialist Occupational Therapist (Experts at Hand) - CFHD

CFHD are looking to recruit a 1.0wte Specialist Occupational Therapist to provide specialist Occupational Therapy support within the Experts at Hand service through advice, consultation, modelling of strategies, training, and targeted intervention.

The post-holder will work as partof the multidisciplinary team and autonomously to support children and young people, families, and professionals by building capacity within early years,school and post-16 settings, delivering training, and offering time-limited direct interventions where indicated.

Thisis an exciting chance to take a leadership role in shaping and developing this innovative pilot service as it is rolled out across Devon.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence service development, support implementation, and help drive the success of this new model of support for children, young people, and the wider workforce.

Main duties of the job

To provide Specialist OT assessment and intervention for a caseload of complex cases

Provide support and clinical supervision to OT staff across CFHD

Work within the Physical and Sensory Pathway providing support to Occupational Therapists working across a range of pathways

Screen and triage referrals and ensure a strengths-based approach to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to support the complex packages of care for children with additional needs in the community

Contribute to risk assessment and care planning in collaboration with children, young people and their carers

Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, advice and interventions to children, young people and their families and to hold a caseload of children with complex needs

Provide case management of an identified caseload of children and young people with highly complex long-term conditions and complex needs by utilising and promoting evidence-based care

Person Specification Experience
  • Sound knowledge of child development
  • Evidence of advanced training in specialist clinical area
  • Evidence of audit and quality improvement training
  • Experience of working as part of a professional team and multidisciplinary team
  • Skilled in risk management
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • Experience of presenting complex information to staff and senior management
  • Experience of implementing changes in service design and delivery both profession specific and in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the profession, and health and social care delivery
  • Knowledge of NSFs, local government, and health policies and procedures, safeguarding adult
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Experience of managing patients with a range of complex conditions
  • Experience in specialist assessment relevant to your specialist field
  • Clear evidence of high level of professional skills within a specialist health or social care setting
  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable adults and/or children

    High level of knowledge of a broad range of relevant conditions and proven experience of delivering evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of the clinical guidelines, and experience of implementing these recommendations in practice

Qualifications
  • BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
