We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our Global Diagnostics Medical Affairs Commercial team on a contract basis.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to support innovative veterinary diagnostic studies and contribute to the development and evaluation of cutting-edge point-of-care diagnostic technologies. Working alongside a team of veterinary and scientific experts, you will play a key role in supporting clinical studies, diagnostic analyser evaluations, validation activities, and post-validation research projects. About the Role As a Laboratory Technician , you will support laboratory-based activities related to clinical studies and diagnostic product development. You will be responsible for performing laboratory testing, handling samples, operating diagnostic equipment, and maintaining accurate documentation in line with study protocols. The initial assignment is expected to last approximately 6 months , with potential future projects depending on business and product requirements.

This role is primarily site-based at a veterinary reference laboratory in Exeter , with occasional travel to other UK laboratory locations when required.

Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for:
Laboratory Testing & Study Support Conducting point-of-care diagnostic instrument testing and supporting data collection activities. Performing laboratory techniques including sample handling, pipetting, and diagnostic analyser operation. Supporting clinical study activities, validation studies, and product evaluation projects. Following study protocols and ensuring laboratory procedures are completed accurately. Maintaining sterile laboratory conditions where required. Data Management & Documentation Maintaining accurate records of samples, study methods, procedures, and results.

Ensuring all collected data is organised, accurate, and prepared for analysis. Documenting any deviations from study protocols and communicating these appropriately. Supporting protocol reviews and study documentation. Laboratory Operations Support Assisting with coordination and management of study supplies, samples, consumables, and equipment. Supporting sample bank maintenance and organisation. Working collaboratively with reference laboratory colleagues to ensure studies align with laboratory workflows.

Providing regular updates to Medical Affairs colleagues regarding study progress. About You We are looking for a motivated laboratory professional with strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. You will ideally have:
Education & Experience Degree (BSc/BA) in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 2 years' laboratory experience . Experience working with laboratory instruments and diagnostic equipment.

Experience with laboratory documentation, record keeping, and data capture. Knowledge or experience within veterinary diagnostics would be highly advantageous. Skills & Attributes Strong understanding of laboratory techniques and processes. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively. Strong problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with scientific teams.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook. Working Environment This role requires working within a laboratory environment and may involve:
Sitting, standing, bending and working in different laboratory positions. Handling laboratory samples and equipment. Working on-site for the duration of assigned projects.
