Role SummaryAn exciting permanent job opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist to join the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) specialist team within the Exeter South West Peninsula ILD Service in the Royal Devon, Eastern Services, Department of Respiratory Medicine, for 22.5 hours a week. The Exeter ILD Service provides a regional service covering the South West Peninsula (Devon, Cornwall and parts of Somerset and Dorset) in addition to supporting the local patients within the Eastern respiratory team at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The successful candidate’s role will be to provide support and education for patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD), their families and carers. The post will enable you to work within the existing ILD service supporting patients during telephone and face to face clinics and running ILD pulmonary rehabilitation. You will facilitate the planning and delivery of patient care to address their needs and ensure timely interventions.
While the sole physiotherapist in the ILD service you will work closely with and be supported by our multidisciplinary team (MDT) which includes ILD consultants, ILD Nurses, ILD administrators, pharmacists, occupational therapist and supportive care consultant. Additional peer support has been agreed with the respiratory physios and therapies team.
The ideal candidate will have a special interest in ILD with experience of working within respiratory medicine and/or related research. You will need to show in your job application how you meet the requirements of the person specification. The working days will be between Monday and Friday covering the new patient clinic on Wednesdays and 2 other separated days appropriate for pulmonary rehabilitation (ideally Tuesday and Friday).
There is no on call or weekend working.
The ILD service at the Royal Devon and Exeter are a dynamic team who are keen to provide opportunities for staff development in their speciality and respiratory medicine. You will have an induction period with in the service. Key within the ILD team is your opportunity to contribute to advancement and quality improvement of the ILD service and participate in data analysis and research projects.
Time is provided for study days, attending patient groups, conferences and MDT meetings.
