We are offering an 18‑month Information Communication Technician – Support Technician apprenticeship within our Digital Services Department. The apprenticeship is suitable for school or college leavers, or individuals with no IT qualification or experience, who wish to start a career in IT.
The Digital Services Service Desk is a small team that provides first‑line support for IT services to healthcare organisations across Devon. Successful applicants will work under the supervision of experienced staff, delivering first‑line support to clients on all matters related to IT provision.
Main duties of the roleDuring the apprenticeship you will work closely with the Digital Services Teams and perform the following daily responsibilities:
- Elicit information from clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Record all work requests accurately in our bespoke Service Desk application.
- Resolve issues reported by clients during their initial contact.
- Create and manage Active Directory objects.
- Liaise with both internal and third‑party support teams.
- Punctual and reliable.
- A good team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Enthusiastic about following an IT career pathway.
- Networking and Architecture
- Mobile and Operating Systems
- Coding and Logic
- Business Processes
- Functional skills in IT, English and Maths (if required)
The salary is 70 % of Band 3 for the first 12 months, increasing to 75 % for the final 6 months.
Working pattern and contract details37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
Fixed‑term contract: 07 Sep 2026 – 03 Mar 2028. Current NHS employees may receive a secondment opportunity.
Benefits£25,760 to £27,476 per year.
