Position: Legal Adviser (Contract)
Legal Adviser – Middlemoor Police HQ – EX2 7HQ

I am currently representing Devon and Cornwall are offering a 12-month contract with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for Legal Adviser at Middlemoor Police HQ, Sidmouth Rd, Middlemoor Roundabout, Exeter EX2 7HQ

Enhanced Medical Questionnaire to be completed
Approx 12 months with a view to a Fixed Term Contract after 14 weeks dependent on performance
2 days per week in the office (one to be a Tues in HQ).

Key Accountabilities:

Working with Disturbing Evidence of Disturbing Circumstances

Working with Vulnerable People

Working in an Environment with potential for conflict, violence (verbal/physical) etc.

Requirements:

Essential qualifications, experience, knowledge, and skills required for this role. To be used for recruitment and selection purposes.

LLB (Hons) degree to second standard (or another degree to upper second standard if CPE has been passed with commendation).

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (with Civil Litigation practising rights)

Experience of handling contentious matters generally.

A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legal principles, legislation, case law, legal systems and police law.

Ability to manage a considerable and diverse caseload providing clear advice.

Ability to work in a highly pressurised environment and to be able to offer flexibility and advice within time constraints.

Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team

Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to liaise and influence at all levels, internal and external

Research and investigative skills with high attention to detail.

Ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment
