Chadwick Nott are partnering with a top 100 national law firm to recruit an experienced Construction Disputes Senior Associate into their highly respected Exeter team. This is a standout opportunity to join a major national contentious construction practice with an exceptional reputation across the UK and internationally.
The RoleYou’ll be joining a large, well established national construction disputes team, working on a broad and sophisticated range of contentious matters. The work is high value, complex and consistently engaging, with a client base that includes major developers, international and domestic contractors, consultants, social housing providers, and public sector bodies.
- Adjudication, mediation and litigation under the Construction & Engineering Pre Action Protocol
- Contractual interpretation and risk management
- Professional negligence claims
- High value defect disputes and Building Safety Act issues
- PFI related disputes
- Work involving JCT, NEC, FIDIC, ICE, PPC, GC Works and bespoke contracts
You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across the firm’s UK offices, contribute to business development, and play an active role in raising the profile of the team. This is a senior position with genuine influence, offering the chance to help shape client relationships and support the development of junior lawyers.
Candidate Requirements- Qualified solicitor with 8+ years’ experience in contentious construction
- Strong track record across adjudication, litigation and arbitration (domestic or international)
- Experience handling complex, high value defect disputes
- Understanding of the Building Safety Act and its implications for the sector
Experience acting for major developers, contractors or public bodies - Strong knowledge of JCT, NEC and FIDIC contract suites
- A proactive approach to business development and client engagement
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage files independently
- Experience supervising and supporting junior lawyers
