Leading SW Firm | Insurance Disputes Associate | Exeter

Join a specialist insurance disputes team in Exeter, handling a broad mix of domestic and international insurance and personal injury matters within a collaborative, City‑led firm.

The Firm

This is a City‑led law firm with a strong UK base and other bases internationally, supported by a strategic global partnership. The firm has built its reputation on the quality of its work and the strength of its people, not simply scale.

The Team

The Insurance Disputes team is a dedicated group of lawyers based across multiple UK locations, acting for a wide range of local and international insurers. The team handles a diverse caseload spanning coverage and interpretation disputes, liability claims, subrogation, personal injury (both claimant and defendant), and cross‑class claims resolution. The practice is known for its commercial, pragmatic approach, resolving disputes through litigation, arbitration and all forms of alternative dispute resolution.

The Role

Based in Exeter, you will manage a varied caseload of insurance and personal injury disputes with excellent autonomy as you develop. You will advise on coverage and interpretation issues, handle liability claims, subrogation matters, and personal injury cases for both claimants and defendants. You will also assist with contractual matters arising in insurance disputes and, from time to time, support wider civil litigation.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified solicitor with strong insurance disputes or personal injury experience, ideally gained within a recognised insurance practice
  • Excellent technical skills and a proven ability to manage and progress matters independently where appropriate
  • Strong client focus and a commitment to service delivery, with a commercial and practical mindset
  • Drive, enthusiasm and a can‑do attitude; able to manage volume work effectively and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; a genuine team player
  • Solid academic record
What's on Offer
  • A broad and varied insurance disputes caseload within a supportive team
  • Exposure to domestic and international matters, with real client contact and responsibility
  • A clear progression framework and structured career development
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture with hybrid working and a genuine commitment to wellbeing
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including bonus, pension, private medical insurance, enhanced family leave, and flexible holiday
