Green Space and Cleansing Operative | Environmental Operative | Street Cleaning Operative – Exeter. Salary: £13.45 per hour. Temporary | Immediate Start. Full-time and part-time hours available.

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of Exeter City Council for 6 Green Space and Cleansing Operatives to support local environmental services across Exeter. This is an outdoor role focused on maintaining clean, safe and welcoming public spaces across the city. Applicants should have a full, clean manual UK driving licence.

• Shift start times between 5:00 am and 7:00 am.
• Finish times vary between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
• Working 3–5 days out of 7, depending on the role.
• Weekend availability for at least one day is preferred.
• 7.5-hour shifts include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
• 10.5-hour shifts include 1.5 hours of unpaid breaks.

• Keep Exeter clean, safe and looking its best as part of the cleansing and environmental team.
• Remove litter and empty litter bins.
• Clean public spaces, including car parks and public toilets.
• Remove small amounts of graffiti and fly-posting.
• Trim or remove weeds in parks and on roadsides.
• Carry out basic inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Report fly tipping, damaged street furniture, abandoned vehicles and other environmental concerns.
• Complete basic paperwork, including inspection records.
• Follow safe working practices and Exeter City Council procedures at all times.

• Successful applicants will receive full training across a variety of cleansing services, including:
• City Centre solo sweeping
• Van routes
• Deep cleaning
• Car park cleaning
• Public toilet cleaning

• Reliable and punctual.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible with working patterns.
• Committed to delivering high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
• Hold a full, clean manual UK driving licence.
