Role Summary

We’re hiring a Finance Department Manager (part-time) to join FORCE Cancer Charity during an exciting period of growth.

Reporting to the CFO, this role combines financial leadership, systems development and team management—allowing you to contribute to long‑term sustainability and impact. Charity sector experience is welcomed.

About the Role

FORCE Cancer Charity is based in Exeter and supports people affected by cancer across the region. We’re entering an exciting phase of development and need a Finance Department Manager to strengthen and evolve the systems that underpin our work.

In this role you’ll be responsible for the charity’s day‑to‑day financial and operational management. You’ll lead and develop a dedicated team, oversee robust financial processes, and play a key part in improving systems—including contributing to the implementation of a new fundraising database that will support sustainable income generation.

This is a part‑time, primarily office‑based role that offers a varied and hands‑on remit, combining financial leadership with operational oversight. For the right person, there is scope to take on additional responsibilities and progress within the organisation over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance department team and manage day‑to‑day financial operations.

• Oversee robust financial processes and reporting.

• Drive the development and implementation of financial systems, including a new fundraising database.

• Collaborate with senior leadership to support the charity’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

We’re looking for someone with strong financial expertise, excellent organisational and IT skills, and clear communication abilities. Previous charity sector experience is welcomed but not essential. Most importantly, you’ll share our commitment to making a difference for people facing cancer.

Working Pattern

Part time – 4 days per week.

Benefits

Looking after you is important to us. We help staff create a healthy work‑life balance through flexible working and family‑friendly policies. Eligible staff receive paid annual leave plus bank holidays, access to comprehensive occupational health services, and opportunities for continuing professional development.

Additional benefits include:

  • National discount services such as the Blue Light Card.
  • Salary sacrifice options.
  • Car lease schemes.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Access to the NHS Pension scheme.

These are just a few of the benefits available – if the role interests you, we would love to hear from you.
