Job DescriptionWe're recruiting an Assistant Manager – Offsite Services to lead and streamline our home‑based pet operations in Devon. In this role, you'll ensure that every pet finds the perfect match with their new family as quickly as possible, while maintaining top‑quality care for both our pets and clients throughout the entire adoption journey.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and streamline the home‑based pet operations, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day activities.
- Act as the subject‑matter expert in practical animal handling and assessment, preparing pets for adoption.
- Oversee timely pet assessments, behaviour management and training, and provide full support to foster carers.
- Achieve pet‑related targets and maintain the highest standards of animal care while adhering to national processes in case management.
- Motivate and manage a team of Pet Welfare Assistants and Foster Coordinators, facilitating professional development.
- Work 37.5 hours per week, including 1 in 3 weekends.
- Excellent people‑management skills, experienced in an animal‑related environment.
- Strong communication abilities, able to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- Calm, organised, and confident decision‑maker in high‑pressure situations.
- Strong analytical skills for monitoring and evaluating performance.
- Resilience and emotional intelligence to support the team and the public.
- Significant experience managing a team.
- Significant experience delivering high‑level customer service in a fast‑paced environment.
- Expertise in pet welfare and handling of domestic animals.
- High standard of verbal and written communication.
- Current full driving licence.
- Ability to demonstrate, understand and apply Blue Cross values.
- Performance management and improvement experience.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues.
