Overview

Alexander House Care Home in Pinhoe, Exeter provides Nursing, Residential, Dementia and Respite care for 67 residents. The home was rated Good by CQC in May 2026 and has a  review score of 9.6.

Due to growth and success, we are offering an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our experienced and dedicated team as Clinical Unit Manager (RGN or RMN) on a contracted basis.

• £24.00 per hour
• Contracted to 48 hours per week
• Paid NMC fees, breaks
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Note:

Ongoing training, clinical updates and funded development are provided with clear progression into Deputy Manager and Home Manager roles within a supported and structured environment.

As Clinical Unit Manager, you will lead the clinical and operational aspects of your unit, ensuring high-quality, safe and effective care is delivered at all times. This is a senior role where leadership, clinical expertise and decision-making directly influence standards, outcomes and overall service quality. You will lead and support the clinical and care teams, ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans, best practice and regulatory requirements.

You will oversee clinical governance, medication management and performance across the unit, and drive continuous improvement. You will work closely with the Home Manager and wider leadership team to support service delivery, staff development and operational oversight. You will act as a role model, providing guidance, mentoring and support to ensure a confident, capable and well-performing team. The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

• Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with an active NMC PIN
• Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills
• Experience leading or managing a clinical team, ideally within a unit manager role
• Confidence overseeing standards, compliance and performance
• Ability to support, mentor and develop staff
• Good communication, organisational and leadership skills
