Laboratory Technician

An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician within the Alloy Plant at our Exeter site. This role operates on a 3-shift rotation, and reports to the Laboratory Supervisor.

-Shift Rotation consists of 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm/10pm-6am. Shift premium payable.

Your main responsibilities will include;

Analysis of alloy samples by instrumental techniques using;
Combustion, Optical emission and X-ray Fluorescence techniques. Samples include preliminary melt samples, certification samples, and remelt samples from casting plants and external customers

Preparation of samples for analysis

Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment

Routine standardisation of laboratory equipment

Maintaining 5S within laboratory

Inputting of results to LIMS

Calculating bath additions during heat manufacture using LIMS and Optimat

• A good attitude to working safely and demonstrates the values of Howmet Aerospace
• A science background with good mathematical and computer skills.
• Ability to interpret results and make decisions on alloy chemistry adjustments within the scope of the role.
• Flexibility to work within a small team to provide 24/7 laboratory cover
• Meticulous, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Able to work alone, self-sufficiently, and independently prioritise tasks.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
