We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated nurse to join the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Our purpose-built Neonatal Unit is a spacious 26‑cot unit, providing care across Intensive Care, High Dependency, Special Care and Transitional Care. Job responsibilities

As a Band 5 Nurse or Midwife, you will:

  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based neonatal care in line with national and local guidelines
  • Support babies and families across a range of neonatal care settings
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, actively involving them in care
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement and governance
  • Participate in education, training and service development

  • A comprehensive preceptorship programme for newly qualified staff
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities to support both personal and professional growth
  • As part of your role, you will be expected to undertake the Qualified in Specialty (Neonatal) course within 12 months of appointment, supported by the Trust.
Candidate profile
  • Registered Nurses (Child or Adult) or Registered Midwives, with a valid NMC registration (or due to qualify)
  • Individuals with experience of working with families who are keen to explore the dynamic environment of neonatal care
  • Newly qualified or experienced Band 5 practitioners with a passion for neonatal and family‑centred care
  • Staff willing to work a rotational shift pattern including nights and weekends

Previous neonatal experience is welcomed but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
