Hepatology Nurse Specialist

Closing date: 07 July 2026

An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Hepatology Nurse. This permanent post requires experience in hepatology and gastroenterology nursing.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialized nursing care to patients with liver disease in hospital and community settings. Collaborate within the multidisciplinary Hepatology Team. Participate in patient assessment, care planning, medication management, and health education. Support the development of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives. Travel to North Devon as required.

Job responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to patients with liver disease.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Manage medications, treatments and monitoring protocols.
  • Educate patients and families about liver disease and self‑management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
  • Support quality improvement and audit activities within the service.
  • Travel to North Devon as required.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training.
Person Specification
  • Band 6 registration and experience in hepatology and/or gastroenterology nursing.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, care planning and medication management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated, organised, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer literate and able to use NHS electronic systems.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
