Registered Mental Health Nurse

Overview

Assessing and talking to patients about their problems and discussing the best way to plan and deliver their care. Building relationships to encourage trust, listening to and interpreting needs and concerns. Ensuring correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitoring treatment results. Responding to distressed patients in a non‑threatening manner and attempting to understand the source of their discomfort.

• Assess and monitor patient conditions.
• Check symptoms and vital signs and arrange diagnostic tests.
• Display excellent analytical ability and sound decision making in changing clinical situations.
• Work as an effective team member and promote team and interdisciplinary relationships.
• Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines.
• Undertake regular mandatory training.

• A minimum of 6 months paid experience in a learning and disability hospital environment within the last 3 years.
• A minimum of 6 months paid experience in an acute hospital environment within the last 3 years.
• Statement of NMC registration.
• Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
• Comply with NMC professional registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices.
