As a registered Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you’ll have the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration, including NMC or HCPC. You’ll have post-registration experience in major orthopaedic scrub role, be an excellent communicator and team worker – flexible and motivated. As part of the wider hospital team you’ll interact with colleagues on the ward because you understand that continuity in patient care is key.

As a Theatre Practitioner Major Ortho Scrub, you will:

• Work with leading consultants and like-minded professionals
• Enjoy a varied caseload with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and facilities
• Supervise, support and develop junior members of staff
• Create high-quality care and patient experiences that are clinically effective and evidence based
• Interact well with colleagues on the ward, understanding that continuity in patient care is key
• Deliver high-quality care to patients in the anaesthetic and recovery phases of surgery
• Collaborate with anaesthetists and surgical teams to prepare and monitor patients pre, during, and post-surgery

Working on the bank means you are not contracted to a set number of hours per week but instead work on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and your availability. Up to £26.50 per hour depending on experience.

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds.

We also have a busy outpatient department, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner.

We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT, and gynaecology.

The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for in this field of surgery.
