Strategic Asset Appraisal Manager

Do you have extensive experience in social housing asset management and a passion for using data, insight and strategic thinking to improve homes and communities? We're looking for a Strategic Asset Appraisal Manager to lead our asset appraisal function, helping us make informed investment decisions that maximise the quality and value of our existing homes while supporting the delivery of new affordable housing.

You will combine strong analysis with supportive leadership, balancing commercial considerations with our social purpose and ensuring that customers remain at the centre of our decisions.

• Strengthen how we measure property performance across physical, financial, strategic, legal and regulatory factors.
• Analyse portfolio information to identify patterns, test assumptions and make clear recommendations for investment or divestment.
• Lead detailed appraisals of schemes, clusters and blocks, developing robust business cases for regeneration, repurposing, investment or disposal.
• Lead and continually improve the individual property appraisal and land optimisation processes.
• Work closely with Development, Regeneration and New Business colleagues to identify opportunities and help shape the development plan.
• Partner with Housing, Sales and Empty Homes teams to support effective decant plans, reduce rent loss and ensure properties move quickly towards an agreed outcome.
• Build trusted relationships with local authorities and other strategic partners through open, credible and constructive engagement.
• Provide visible, hands‑on leadership, setting clear expectations and bringing teams together to deliver positive change.

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week

Hybrid Working is available for this role working 2-3 days in the office dependent on business need. You will be based from our Exeter office

To be successful in your application for the role of Strategic Asset Appraisal Manager
, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 2 role and the following role specific skills and experience:

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead people through change with clarity, resilience and positive energy.
• The ability to interpret property condition, structural and archetypal information and understand its effect on long‑term asset performance.
• Confidence working with valuations, costs and funding to assess options, trade‑offs and value.
• The ability to combine affordability, demand, management, sustainability, amenity and reprovision considerations into clear strategic recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex information clear, concise and persuasive.
• The ability to challenge constructively, build commitment and bring different teams together.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.

• Housing leadership experience, including leading teams successfully through change.
• Extensive property management or asset management experience within a social housing environment.
• A track record of improving processes through data, automation and structured problem‑solving.
• Experience of working with related teams or stakeholders to deliver cross‑functional improvements.
