Reporting to a leading social housing provider, the Strategic Asset Appraisal Manager – Exeter will shape long-term investment decisions across a substantial housing portfolio. Based in Exeter with hybrid working, this permanent post offers £50,400 to £56,000 for a 37-hour week. The successful candidate brings extensive asset or property management experience within social housing, combining commercial insight, property knowledge and analytical skill to appraise homes, schemes and land.
Duties include leading detailed appraisals of individual properties, blocks and wider schemes, advising on optimal outcomes, and supporting intelligent investment planning. Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations are essential. Interviews take place on 15th October 2026. We’re recruiting for an experienced Strategic Asset Appraisal Manager to join a leading social housing provider in Exeter.
This is a senior strategic role for someone with extensive social housing asset or property management experience, combining data, commercial insight and property knowledge to drive intelligent investment decisions across a large housing portfolio.

- Leading detailed asset appraisals across individual properties, blocks, schemes and clusters
- Assessing physical, financial, strategic, legal and regulatory performance
- Developing robust business cases for investment, regeneration, repurposing or disposal
- Analysing portfolio data, valuations, costs and funding options
- Leading individual property appraisal and land optimisation processes
- Identifying opportunities alongside Development, Regeneration and New Business teams
- Supporting decant strategies and helping reduce rent loss
- Building strong relationships with local authorities and strategic partners
- Improving processes through data, automation and structured problem-solving
- Providing visible leadership and bringing teams together to deliver change
- Extensive asset/property management experience within social housing
- Strong housing leadership experience, including successfully leading teams through change
- Excellent understanding of property condition and long‑term asset performance
- Confidence analysing valuations, costs, funding and investment options
- Strong knowledge of the legal and planning considerations around development and disposal
- Ability to turn complex property and financial data into clear strategic recommendations
- Experience delivering cross‑functional improvements
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Relevant A‑Level or higher qualification in construction/property RICS, CIOB or RIBA membership would be advantageous
