This full-time research position offers a rich opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading research universities as a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow. Based within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy at the University of Exeter, the successful candidate will work in an influential research group on a project funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) alongside collaborators at the University of St.
Andrews. The role is designed to support high-quality, independent research, contributing to both theoretical and applied aspects of the research area while integrating with broader academic and community partners. Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold a relevant PhD (or be close to completing one) in a related discipline. Appointment level will depend on qualifications and experience:
Research Associates will be able to work effectively within established research programmes, while Research Fellows will be expected to have demonstrated a track record of independent research and scholarly achievement at a national level.

Applicants should bring strong analytical and research capabilities relevant to the focus of the research group’s project. This includes the ability to develop research objectives, contribute to writing and presenting research findings, and collaborate with academic, industry and community partners. Excellent communication skills, a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and a proactive approach to problem-solving are highly valued.
Salary Details
For Postdoctoral Research Associate appointments the starting salary begins from approximately £34,610 on Grade
E. For Postdoctoral Research Fellows the starting salary begins from approximately £43,482 on Grade F, with exact remuneration dependent on qualifications and experience. The University offers generous holiday allowances, pension contributions, flexible working arrangements, and relocation support where applicable.
