Working Pattern

Catering Assistant – working 5/7 in a busy supermarket distribution centre canteen. Shifts 1000 – 1830 with 2 consecutive days off per week.

We are looking for a catering assistant for one of our Lidl Distribution centre sites.

• Help with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and making sandwiches and salads.
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area and equipment, including cleaning utensils, tableware, and catering stations.
• Assist with receiving and unpacking all deliveries, ensuring the food and supply storage areas are organised.
• Serve food items to customers in accordance with the menu prepared by the chefs. General Assistants may also act as a host/waiter when needed in events.
• Top up vending services.

• Commercial kitchen experience is highly valued but not essential.
• Basic catering and hospitality certificate such as Food Handling or equivalent is desired but not essential; we can provide this for you.
• Excellent time‑management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, often necessary due to the physical nature of the job.

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
• A Level 2 food hygiene course would be desirable but not essential; we can supply this training.
• Excellent customer service skills are essential.
• Good time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Driving licence preferable due to the remote nature of the site.
