What you will do

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and performance management for Social Workers and support staff within the Child Protection Team.
  • Oversee the allocation, management and quality assurance of complex safeguarding cases involving Child in Need, Child Protection and care planning responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Children Act 1989 and Children Act 2004, maintaining effective risk management and decision-making.
  • Chair and contribute to strategy discussions, legal planning meetings and multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent recognised social work qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
  • Evidence of continued professional development and management training.

Registration and Compliance:

  • Current Social Work England registration.

Experience:

  • Substantial post-qualification experience within Children’s Social Care.
  • Significant experience managing Child Protection and Child in Need services.
  • Experience supervising professional social work staff within a statutory safeguarding environment.
