Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Exmouth

Are you an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in education? We are working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Exmouth seeking a skilled HLTA to join their team from September.

About the Role

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic HLTA to work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum. The successful candidate will support whole-class teaching, lead small intervention groups, and provide targeted support to pupils, helping them achieve their full potential.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking initiative, supporting a range of learning needs, and making a positive impact in the classroom.

Your Responsibilities
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead whole-class learning under teacher direction
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience (essential)
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
  • Confidence leading learning activities independently
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

Experience supporting pupils with SEND (including ASD, SEMH, or learning difficulties) would be advantageous, but is not essential.
