ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE:
Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

What the role can provide you:

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

As a General Merchandise Expert, a typical day will likely include the following responsibilities:

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
• Assist guests in a welcoming way to solve their specific needs
• Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target
• Receive products, restock shelves, organize the backroom, arrange merchandise, and set up promotional signs for GM areas
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures
• Change prices, maintain merchandise setup and inventory accuracy as directed
• Learn how procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
• Know resources, products, and services available to solve guest issues and improve their experience
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety and compliance
• Work safely; follow safety policies, report hazards and correct where possible
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking/packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while complying with laws
• All other duties based on business needs

Requirements and physical expectations:

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb ladders and lift/move merchandise up to 44 pounds with or without assistance
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Work in varying temperatures and conditions; ability to Move/Drive-Up/Carryout as needed
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift
