This Band 5 theatre post sits in the ophthalmology theatre team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, part of Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The work centres on specialist eye surgery, including corneal grafts and glaucoma stent procedures. The post suits both newly qualified and experienced practitioners, with preceptorship and supernumerary time while competencies are built. Sponsorship is not available, so applicants must hold the right to work in the UK by their proposed start date.
Whatthe job involves
- Work in the ophthalmology theatre team on specialised eye surgery
- Support corneal graft procedures, including DSEK and DMEK
- Support glaucoma surgery involving stents
- Registered general nurse (RGN) or registered operating department practitioner (RODP)
- Anaesthetic, surgical and/or recovery skills as specified in the post
- Excellent customer care skills
- Right to work in the UK by the proposed start date (sponsorship not available)
- Preceptorship and supernumerary status while achieving competencies
- Further support when first working solo
- In-house perioperative course
- Support with revalidation
- Leadership and career development support
- Education strategy supporting progression for all grades
