Position Title:
Art Teacher (High School)
Summary: To provide an approved education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth. To develop students' interest, abilities, talents, and skills for artistic expression and creativity in the visual arts, as well as aesthetic understanding and appreciation by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson plans; modeling the necessary skills to performing assigned tasks;
providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification (CE, CEAS) with subject matter specialization:
Art.Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility.
Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, and faculty, etc.
Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Works to achieve state core curriculum content standards and charter school educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning and skills development in the classroom. Teaches pupils through an approved course of study using board-adopted curricula, textbooks, and other appropriate teaching materials.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides opportunities for individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
Assesses pupil academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
Maintains records of pupil's educational progress in class record books and/or board approved forms and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.
