M-F 3:00-6:00

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the activity leader will develop engaging, culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities for middle school students. The leader provides active supervision, ensuring a safe, productive environment and employs positive youth development strategies to foster positive behavior.

Education and Experience
  • Preferred: BA/BS with 2-3 years experience in enrichment program development and implementation.
  • Ability to speak and write Standard English appropriate for a public school setting.
  • Must pass criminal background check, fingerprinting, pre‑employment drug screening, and TB testing.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to track data and produce reports.
  • Excellent communication, supervisory, and classroom management skills.
  • At least six months experience working with youth in a classroom, after‑school, or recreation environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities in areas such as common core, character development, project‑based learning, STEAM, fitness, recreation, academics, and enrichment.
  • Immediately report and document injuries or incidents using established procedures.
  • Implement and successfully deliver after‑school programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of program areas and equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with Site Coordinator, staff, parents, and school administration regarding program activities.
  • Develop rapport and build relationships with faculty, staff, and member families.
  • Collaborate with partners and other providers to reinforce program success.
  • Lead and supervise fitness activities, monitor behavior, oversee curriculum activities, and perform housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Make programmatic changes based on organizational requirements.
  • Apply behavior management techniques and 21st CCLC procedures as needed.
  • Assist in marketing programs for growth and retention.
Other Responsibilities
  • Adhere to 21st CCLC and district safety expectations and implement the safety plan.
  • Accurately complete and submit timesheet/payroll records, incident reports, rosters, receipts, and all other program‑related records.
  • Report absences, no‑call/no‑show, tardiness, or time‑off requests to Site Coordinator and HR.
  • Support and implement human resource policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings, training, and other required sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment
  • Must manage distractions and interruptions while meeting deadlines.
  • Responsible for resource and equipment management and staff supervision.
  • Must comply with Ilearn Schools Staff Dress Code.
Other Skills
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, sit, crouch, bend, speak, and hear.
  • Capable of engaging in physical activity with members without limitation.
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull or move objects between 10 and 20 pounds.
  • Works cooperatively with staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of school‑age children.
  • Manages and supervises large groups.
  • Monitors payments, budget and reporting procedures per site requirements.
