On-Call Substitute Teacher

Qualifications:

• Valid New Jersey Substitute Teacher Instructional Certificate - iLearn Schools, Inc. Human Resources will assist in the certification application.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans left by the permanent teacher.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Reports To: School Director

Supervises: Pupils, and when assigned, a classroom aide

Job Goal:

• Manage a classroom in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver age-appropriate lesson presentations that meet individual student needs.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Report to the office upon arrival.
• Check messages or materials requiring immediate attention.
• Request clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
• Arrive on schedule, greet students, and supervise effectively.

• Maintain discipline and control to promote active learning.
• Follow school routines and procedures.
• Deliver lessons suited to the class age and individual needs.
• Manage time effectively.

• Ensure supervision for health, safety, and welfare.
• Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, or discipline issues promptly.
• Follow schedule and policies, and complete end-of-day reports.

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Cooperate with staff.
• Keep records of student progress.
• Organize student papers and return materials.

• Enforce school rules and policies.
• Model non-discriminatory practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
