Position Title:

Social Worker

Summary: As a member of the child study team, the social worker will provide problem-solving services to children and their families. The social worker serves as a case manager, participates in educational planning and placement, and conducts social history assessments. This position requires a high level of responsibility, discretion, independent judgment, and confidentiality.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited social work program, including supervised practicum.
  • Certification as a NY School Social Worker.
  • Knowledge of child development, learning assessment, psychological research, and therapy strategies.
  • Understanding of child study team regulations and special education requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Criminal background check.
  • Health clearance to perform job duties, with accommodations if necessary.
  • Pass the Mantoux Tuberculin Test.
  • Driver’s license preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Occasional physical exertion.
  • Ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, reaching.
  • Some travel required.
Responsibilities
  • Support the mission of iLearn Schools.
  • Participate as a team member on the child study team.
  • Lead the I&RS team.
  • Support school initiatives and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and oversee IEPs, conduct assessments, and prepare reports.
  • Provide counseling and case management services to students.
  • Collaborate with staff and outside agencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Reports to:

Director of Special Education

Terms:

Ten-month full-time employment

Evaluation:
Annual performance review per NY law and school policy
