Sr. Construction Inspector – Roadway/Pavement
Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a senior construction inspector for roadway and pavement projects in Anchorage, AK. Pay range: $80,000‑$100,000 per year, based on experience.
Location: Anchorage, AK
Salary: Based on experience, to be discussed with manager during interview.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen and pass federal background review and drug screen.
Responsibilities- Knowledge of airfield runway construction improvements and pavement resurfacing, ensuring workmanship meets contract, project plans, and specifications.
- Perform and support three‑phase inspection system.
- Provide daily QA reports documenting all on‑site activities in sufficient detail.
- Review and analyze construction contractor progress.
- Ensure safety requirements are met, including EM 385‑1‑1 and OSHA requirements.
- Monitor submittals using a submittal status log.
- Review design, comment logging, and back‑checking; verify accurate as‑built drawings.
- Review and comment on construction contractor’s requests for payment.
- Verify daily reports, project schedule, and activities behind schedule.
- Maintain Inspectors Site Inspection Report.
- Assist in responding to RFIs, modifications, and change orders.
- Participate in pre‑final and final inspections, prepare detailed punch lists, and verify punch list items before final payment.
- High school diploma or GED with at least 7 years of construction inspection experience in quality assurance for construction contracts, airfield runway improvements, roadways, or pavement resurfacing (highly preferred).
- Associate degree (two‑year) with at least 5 years of construction inspection experience (highly preferred).
- Bachelor of Science degree with at least 3 years of construction inspection experience (highly desired).
- Paving Inspector Certification from the Asphalt Institute required within 30 days of start date.
- Experience with Resident Management System (RMS 3.0) preferred.
- Experience enforcing EM 385‑1‑1, OSHA rules and all applicable safety requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with QA inspections, submittal review, quality verification, validating contractor pay request, and preparing daily reports.
- Experience with federal construction projects, particularly US Army Corps of Engineers, preferred.
- Professional presentation and excellent communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Inspections may occur in remote locations with extreme environmental conditions.
