Construction (QA) Inspector – Airfield/Roadways Pavement

Pay

Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr – $/yr. Salary based on experience; to be discussed with manager in interview.

Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a federal background review and drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of airfield runway construction improvements and pavement resurfacing; detailed inspections ensure workmanship complies with contract, project plans, and specifications.
  • Perform and support three‑phase inspection system.
  • Provide daily QA reports documenting all activities observed for each on‑site day in sufficient detail.
  • Review and analyze construction contractor progress.
  • Ensure safety requirements are met, including EM 385‑1‑1 and OSHA requirements.
  • Monitor submittals using a submittal status log.
  • Review design, comment logging and back‑checking; verify accurate as‑built drawings.
  • Review and comment on the accuracy of construction contractor’s requests for payment.
  • Review and acknowledge daily reports, verifying the project schedule and indicating activities worked on that day and those behind schedule.
  • Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.
  • Assist in responses for Requests for Information (RFI), modifications, and change orders.
  • Participate in pre‑final and final inspections; assist in preparations of detailed punch‑lists and ensure all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.
  • QARs may work in remote locations and may experience extreme environmental conditions such as severe heat or cold.
Experience / Education
  • High School diploma (or GED) with at least 7 years of construction inspection experience on construction contracts, airfield runway improvements, roadways or pavement resurfacing (highly preferred).
  • Associate Degree (two‑year degree) or Technical Training Degree with at least 5 years of construction inspection experience (highly preferred).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree with at least 3 years of construction inspection experience (highly desired).
  • Paving Inspector Certification from the Asphalt Institute required within 30 days of start date.
  • Experience with Resident Management System (RMS 3.0), preferred.
  • Experience enforcing EM 385‑1‑1, OSHA rules and regulations, and all applicable safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience performing quality assurance inspections, submittal review, quality verification, validating contractor pay requests, and preparing daily reports.
  • Experience with Federal Construction projects, particularly U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, preferred.
  • Professional presentation, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail for interaction with clients and contractors.
