The Student Success Center (SSC) at UAF is a supportive, student-focused hub that helps students succeed academically, personally, and professionally throughout their college journey. Services on the floor include Nanook Advising, Math, Stat, and Writin Tutoring, Academic Success Coaching, Testing Services, Career Services, academic success workshops, and campus resource navigation—all designed to promote student achievement and connect learners with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Career Services, a vital part of the SSC, provides personalized advising to help students and alumni explore career paths, develop job application materials, prepare for interviews, and navigate job and internship opportunities. Through individual appointments, workshops, career fairs, and access to tools like Handshake and career assessments, Career Services empowers students to clarify goals and confidently pursue their professional aspirations.

To thrive in this role, the applicant should enjoy helping others and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, student-focused environment. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as you'll be the first point of contact for many students seeking support. The applicant needs to balance multiple tasks with professionalism and attention to detail, have a willingness to learn new systems, work collaboratively with a diverse team, and maintain a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with individuals from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Possess the ability to be proactive and work independently.
  • Proficient in Apple, Microsoft Office, and Google applications, with the ability to learn new software quickly, including Canvas, Nanook Navigator and Banner.
Position Details:

This is a part-time, student position. Starting hourly rate of pay is $16.50 per hour.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
