Overview

The R.G. White Large Animal Research Station (LARS) has a broad mission to support research, education, and outreach on Alaskan animals. We support the interests and activities of UAF researchers and also serve scientists from other institutions and organizations in the United States and from around the world. Our animals are maintained for a wide variety of research and educational projects including reproduction, nutrition, energetics, and behavior.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with visitors and groups, and convey information about Alaskan megafauna and related science in a polite, informative, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Work in all weather conditions (sun, snow, ice, rain, extreme temperatures, mosquitoes) and in a small retail space (gift shop).
  • Represent LARS and the University in a professional and customer‑focused manner.
Minimum Qualifications
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking
  • Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one
  • Reliable transportation
Position Details

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' Campus and is a part‑time non‑exempt temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary staff salary schedule, based on education and experience.
