Overview
We’re hiring for NOOK, UAF’s mascot. This position requires an outgoing, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual who is comfortable performing in front of large crowds and interacting with diverse audiences. NOOK will contribute to enhancing the overall atmosphere of campus events, sports games, and other promotional activities.
Responsibilities- Currently enrolled as a student at UAF
- Enthusiastic, outgoing, and able to project high energy and spirit.
- Comfortable performing in front of large audiences and interacting with diverse groups of people.
- Physical stamina and agility to wear the mascot costume and perform physical movements.
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to the demanding schedule of events.
- Excellent non-verbal communication skills to convey emotions and engage with the audience.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in performing, entertaining, or mascot work is a plus but not required.
- Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job (see knowledge, skills, and abilities required above).
- Be enrolled at UAF with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
- Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
- Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, or a newly enrolled student.
- This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.
- This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks. This is a part-time, student assistant position, starting rate of $16.20/hr.
