A Brief Overview
The Director of Environmental Affairs is responsible for the overall development, implementation and coordination of all environmental management and compliance programs specific to Doyon Utilities responsibilities under their utilities privatization contracts with the military in Alaska. This position is responsible for training and monitoring environmental training at each army installation in order to achieve and sustain environmental compliance with requirements of all applicable laws, regulations, permits, policies and procedures.

This position will serve as the liaison between Doyon Utilities and agencies having oversight of DU's environmental programs.

This is an in-person position located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Starting salary range: $196,586 - $201,054

What you will do

· Manage Doyon Utilities’ Environmental Program including responsibility for determining program requirements, ensure environmental compliance, and prepare environmental documents for Doyon Utilities projects.

· Direct the company’s environmental policies, goals and objectives through the site directors and the Doyon Utilities headquarters.

· Provide technical and Environmental regulatory support for all company operating sites and locations primarily through the site directors.

· Direct the development and implementation of corporate environmental training program to address the collective needs of all facilities, sites and operations throughout the company.

· Develop and maintain compliance performance metrics and indices to effectively monitor environmental conditions across the company.

· Responsible for drafting, coordinating and finalizing all environmental reports to local, state and federal agencies.

· Maintain a consolidated, efficient environmental recordkeeping and reporting system for the utility as required by government regulations and company policy.

· Coordinate and perform periodic environmental compliance inspections or audits of DU facilities.

· Develop and implement an effective, efficient environmental communications program throughout DU’s locations to ensure DU’s senior managers receive timely and accurate information regarding environmental issues.

· Prepare period reports on program status, requirements and goal attainment as directed by senior company management.

· Responsible for ensuring preparation and implementation of all environmental corrective action plans.

· Develop annual environmental department budget.

· Learn, adopt, and apply safety programs.

· Serve as the liaison between Doyon Utilities and oversight agencies such as EPA, ADEC, or other state and federal agencies charged with oversight of environmental programs to which Doyon Utilities will be subjected.

Conditions of Employment
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences, engineering or related field. Required

· Master's Degree in environmental science, engineering, business or related field. Preferred

· 10+ years Managing multi-disciplined environmental programs spanning operations, construction management, permitting, compliance, and sustainability and overseeing programs related to air, water, waste, and contaminated sites,…
