What Is

The Role ?

As an onsite Human Resources Business Partner in Fairbanks, AK, you will serve as a strategic, hands‑on HR leader supporting assigned Calista Brice subsidiary companies across multiple states. You will advise managers and executives on recruiting, onboarding, employee and labor relations, union interaction, compliance, policy interpretation, data analysis, and employment law.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain expert knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and specialized regulations such as the Davis‑Bacon Act, Alaska Native corporation requirements, OFCCP, VETS, and EEO.
  • Ensure accuracy of personnel records and compliance with record‑keeping standards across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Draft, review, and update comprehensive job descriptions aligned with organizational needs.
  • Conduct internal wage analyses and compensation reviews; standardize pricing procedures.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment and onboarding processes, including postings, screening, paperwork, benefits communication, and training coordination.
  • Partner with leadership to manage employee relations, coaching, conflict resolution, union relations, grievance handling, discipline, and internal investigations.
  • Advise managers and executives on HR best practices and strategic decisions.
  • Oversee benefit deduction calculations, 401(k) plan administration, and payroll consistency.
  • Coordinate with payroll systems (Spectrum, Deltek, Costpoint) to ensure accurate processing.
  • Assist in managing workers’ compensation claims in collaboration with the Director of Safety and Risk.
  • Administer drug and alcohol testing programs.
  • Maintain and update employee handbooks, company policies, performance evaluation systems, merit and bonus programs.
  • Collaborate in workforce planning and staffing analysis.
  • Support employee training in compliance, leadership, and skills development.
  • Prepare and submit required federal and state employment reports.
  • Track shareholder and employment data for corporate HR reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain safety standards and alertness in all activities.
  • Perform additional duties as directed.
Supervisory Functions

Supervise HR Generalists and other HR personnel, providing guidance and ensuring effective service delivery.

  • Advanced knowledge of HR principles, workforce planning, talent management, compensation, benefits, labor relations, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment, selection, training, and employee development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business management principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and Alaska Native and federal contracting mandates.
  • Proficiency with Workday HRIS, payroll platforms, and applicant tracking systems.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data analytics.
