Job Summary

This position is responsible for the management and day‑to‑day operations of all audio visual (A/V) and video communications equipment to include video teleconferencing, digital signage and broadcast presentation. The role provides direct technical and customer support for all A/V and video equipment, manages vendor relationships, scheduled maintenance and ongoing improvements to support long‑term organizational goals. It assists the Senior A/V Engineer with new installations, upgrades, enhancements and documentation of A/V policies, procedures and training.

The technician also supports the configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of online meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex, ensuring seamless integration with A/V systems for hybrid meetings, webinars, and remote collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and install A/V and VTC equipment such as microphones, speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, wiring, cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions.
  • Set up and operate A/V and VTC equipment and lighting.
  • Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality, test and resolve equipment issues, diagnose and correct media system problems.
  • Coordinate audio feeds and broadcast images, mix sound inputs and remote feeds.
  • Compress and digitize audio and video data. Duplicate audio and video data and convert ideas into outlines, storyboards and images.
  • Ensure safe storage and integrity of data, and keep equipment clean and ready for deployment.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment using the current ITSM solution.
  • Field incoming request tickets from end users needing A/V, Live Event, and VTC support.
  • Conduct research into software application products and services in support of development and purchasing efforts.
  • Participate in the design, development, and delivery of A/V and VTC training programs/classes.
  • Record, track, and document the problem‑solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Configure and support online meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex) for virtual and hybrid events, ensuring compatibility with A/V systems and VTC equipment.
  • Provide end‑user training and technical support for virtual collaboration tools, including troubleshooting connectivity, audio/video quality, and platform features.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College diploma in computer science, information systems, or four years equivalent work experience in computers and/or electronic communications. Certifications preferred.
  • In‑depth hands‑on knowledge and experience with enterprise and desktop applications, including MS operating systems, MS productivity software, and the ability to train users.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the field of audio visual equipment and/or video teleconference arena and electronic equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Must pass background check pursuant to Federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of SIP, audio/video equipment, techniques and multimedia communication standards.
  • Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Computer skills; basic troubleshooting skills, hardware upgrades, RAM, video, sound, SCSI and multimedia cards.
  • Knowledge and ability in installation, maintenance, and operation of audio visual equipment for event broadcasting.
  • Software installation and updating, Windows OS, file cleanup.
  • Ability to conduct research into software development and delivery concepts and technical application issues.
  • Ability to develop and interpret technical documentation from training and end‑user procedures.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Ability to document procedures and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, good customer service skills, and excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills.
  • A/V Certification, A+ Certification and any Microsoft certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and other virtual meeting platforms, including setup, troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Ability to integrate online meeting platforms with A/V hardware and software for seamless hybrid meeting experiences.
