Salary and Sign‑On Bonus- Fairbanks, AK salary range: $54,965 to $67,816 (or $26.34 to $32.49 per hour) including locality pay of 32.36% and COLA pay of 1.49%.
- Retention incentive of 5% of adjusted pay contingent on annual approval and funding.
- Sign‑on bonus up to $5,000, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.
- Operate screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers.
- Perform searches and screening, including physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat‑downs, search of property), bag searches, and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Control terminal entry and exit points.
- Interact with the public, give directions and respond to inquiries.
- Maintain focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment that includes noise from alarms, machinery, people, crowd distractions, time pressure, and disruptive passengers.
- Engage in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate actual and potential security threats.
- Retain and apply knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, demonstrate responsible and dependable behavior, and adapt to new information or unexpected obstacles.

- Maintain agility to squat and bend.
- Repeatedly lift and manipulate baggage and containers weighing approximately 50 pounds.
- Walk up to three (3) miles during a shift and stand for prolonged periods (up to 4 hours).
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- Minimum age 18 at time of application.
- Selective Service registration for male applicants born after 12/31/59.
- Pass structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation.
- Subject to post‑employment random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Available for various shifts, overtime, and travel for training.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Mandatory travel for training and occasional travel may be required.
- Exposure to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals is inherent.
- Experience:
At least one year full‑time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X‑ray technician. - Education:
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC certificate of high‑school equivalency.
- Full‑time positions require 40 hours per week.
- Shift work any day from Sunday through Saturday, including irregular hours, nights, holidays, overtime, extended shifts, and split shifts.
- A split‑shift consists of two work shifts each lasting at least two hours with at least two hours between shifts.
- Shifts generally range from 16–32 hours per week.
- Shift work any day from Sunday through Saturday, including irregular hours, nights, holidays, overtime, extended shifts, and split shifts.
- A split‑shift follows the same definition as in full‑time schedules.
