When preparing for a vacation, some spend days planning and packing the perfect outfit or bringing the right essentials to make their vacation run as smoothly and as comfortably as possible. As a luggage handler supervisor, you make sure all their packed belongings arrive at their new home-away-from-home. You and the rest of the team work together to collect, load, and disperse luggage daily to ensure our guests’ belongings follow them on their Alaskan journey.
Responsibilities- Supervises and motivates a team of luggage handlers and luggage truck drivers along with the unit’s activities and operations.
- Routinely coordinates and monitors logistics for luggage handling operations.
- Routinely loads and unloads luggage from trucks, motorcoaches, and luggage vans at our various properties and the airport.
- Organize, sort, tally, tag, and label guest luggage daily. Assists with misplaced and damaged luggage.
- Communicates frequently with managers, supervisors, and other team members for updates, requests, or concerns.
- May assist in the events of an emergency in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Maintain records, reports, logs, and files in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Must be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds regularly, sometimes above head level.
- Three years of experience in positions involving luggage handling operations preferred.
- Current valid driver’s license with three (3) years of clean driving record. (Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested).
- Must meet the company’s clean driver eligibility requirements.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers, employees, and management.
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
- Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift 50 – 75 pounds regularly, sometimes above head level.
