Director, Contracts

Position Summary

The Director, Contracts is responsible for leading and managing our client's contract administration and compliance activities across commercial and federal government programs. This position oversees the full contract lifecycle, including contract review, negotiation, execution, administration, modifications, compliance, risk management, and closeout. The Director works closely with Executive Leadership, Business Development, Program Management, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain, as well as customers, government stakeholders, contracting officers, and Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs), ensuring contracts are structured, negotiated, and administered in accordance with company objectives, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the organization's contract management and administration activities across the full contract lifecycle, from proposal and pre-award through execution, modification, and closeout.
  • Review solicitations, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, statements of work, modifications, and other contractual documents.
  • Identify and communicate contractual requirements, obligations, risks, and areas of concern to Executive Leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead and/or support contract negotiations with commercial, government, and other customers.
  • Coordinate with Business Development and Program Management during proposal development to ensure contractual requirements, terms, and conditions are properly addressed.
  • Manage contract modifications, amendments, extensions, and renewals throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Monitor contract performance and ensure the organization is meeting contractual obligations and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate contract files, records, and supporting documentation, and develop contract tracking systems and reporting.
  • Coordinate directly with customers, contracting officers, CORs, and other government stakeholders on contractual matters.
  • Identify contractual, financial, operational, and compliance risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Work with Finance and Accounting to support contract funding, invoicing, billing requirements, and revenue recognition.
  • Support subcontract and supplier contract activities, including review of terms, flow-down requirements, and compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable FAR, DFARS, and other government contracting requirements, and communicate regulatory changes.
  • Support audits, customer reviews, and government inquiries, and develop contract policies, procedures, and templates.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal personnel regarding contract requirements, obligations, and compliance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and internal resource for contractual matters and customer requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contracts, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in contracts, contract administration, government contracting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial and/or federal government contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of contract lifecycle management, negotiation, administration, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of FAR and federal government contracting requirements.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting contractual terms, conditions, clauses, statements of work, and modifications.
  • Experience managing contract negotiations and resolving contractual issues.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple contracts and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Compensation: $140,000-$170,000 depending on experience.
