The Inventory Control Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and efficiently processing returned merchandise within the warehouse. This role plays a key part in minimizing shrink, preventing inventory shortages, and ensuring all product movement is properly tracked, tagged, and audited in accordance with company policies. The associate collaborates closely with warehouse operations, the repair shop, sales, and customer service teams to support smooth workflows and timely resolution of product-related issues.
GeneralDescription of Duties
- Perform daily cycle counts, location audits, and physical verifications to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including missing or mis-tagged items.
- Support fiscal audits and stores with preparation, scanning, and tagging.
- Collaborate with receiving and outbound teams to ensure real‑time updates in inventory systems.
- Receive, inspect, and document all returned merchandise from customers or delivery teams.
- Process Returned and Refused items in a timely and accurate manner ensuring the inventory system is always updated.
- Perform order picking and inventory put‑away to support operational efficiency during peak business periods.
- Safety conscious approach to all activities.
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull merchandise while cycling inventory and/or relocate merchandise using powered equipment, hand trucks, and carts.
- Work as a part of a cooperative team where the members may change frequently.
- Ability to analyze or be attentive to detail with numbers/basic calculations and demonstrate proficient handwriting.
- Ability to quickly move your hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects when handling, installing, positioning, or moving furniture.
- Experience working with or around powered equipment, warehouse machinery, and hand/power tools preferred.
- Ability to learn new computer systems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing/warehouse or distribution center environment, preferably with lift experience. Experience with in an inventory department a plus, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Successful completion of required safety and machine operation training.
- Maintain a positive working attitude.
- Ability to stand on a lift at elevated heights for the majority of the shift.
