Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Fairburn. As a Mechanical Engineer you will support Fairburn’s engineering department in the execution of projects across the plant. In this role you will work with other engineers, equipment vendors and operational resources to deliver automation solutions and improvements. You will support automation projects from concept all the way through startup.
Responsibilities- Designing, analyzing, and testing mechanical systems and components on new and existing plant equipment including but not limited to battery feeding equipment, package conveying systems, and high-speed packaging machinery.
- Identifying and diagnosing sources of mechanical issues by observing systems in operation and conducting root cause analysis using problem‑solving tools.
- Leading or performing improvements on mechanical equipment as needed to ensure optimal performance.
- Serving as a technical resource for evaluating the feasibility of new product initiatives.
- Assisting in the development and delivery of technical training for team members and stakeholders.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including external suppliers/vendors, Research and Development, MPD, site Process Engineering, Line Technicians, Department Managers, and Plant Leadership, to deliver projects.
- Applying sound judgment and decision‑making based on data analysis and engineering best practices.
- Leading small projects (with coaching as needed) to help deliver site goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contributing to the execution of planned trial work and process optimizations.
- Documenting engineering deliverables such as Design Review Documentation, Functional Block Diagrams, FMECA/FMEA, Machine Risk Assessments, D&C checklist, VATs, IQ/OQ, and LFE.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 5 years of work experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering and design tools. Experience with Solid Works is preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to determine root causes using analytical and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for working in cross‑functional environments.
- Experience with machine shop operations and machining is preferred.
