Position SummarySince the doors opened in 1972, our Atlanta factory has grown dramatically into a state-of-the-art facility. With safety at the forefront of our minds, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Friskies®, Purina ONE®, and Pro Plan®. The plant also contributes to environmental stewardship by conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, and maintaining zero waste for disposal.
This location serves a community of nearly 6 million residents and plays a vital role in the commercial and financial landscape of the Southeast.
As the Safety Manager, you will provide leadership for the planning, implementation and operation of the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS). Support the evolution of the safety culture, empower employees, and reduce work‑related injuries and illnesses. You will manage, facilitate, direct, and support safety objectives and goals to ensure that employees work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Develop safety and health programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear expectations and procedures
- Drive sustainable implementation of corporate, division and local initiatives through hands‑on leadership, digital tools, coaching and teamwork
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety requirements and maintain OSHA 300 Log and internal reporting as required
- Study data and trends to implement safety campaigns
- Organize, coordinate and conduct training for the Safety Committee on safety topics and current safety programs in the plant
- Utilize Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) principles, tools, systems and processes to enhance performance
- Lead the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) pillar for the site during TPM implementation
- Ensure effective injury case management process is fully implemented, well understood and functioning as desired, and provide customer service for all employees with inquiries in safety, including Workers’ Compensation, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and related areas
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a safety or compliance role within manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment
- 2+ years of leadership experience
The approximate pay range for this position is $76,000 to $141,000. This range is a good faith estimate and final compensation may vary based on factors including knowledge, skills, abilities and geographic location.
