Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading public sector construction organization in the Fairfax County, VA area, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage large‑scale vertical construction projects from planning through close‑out. This is a contract position offering competitive pay and an opportunity to work on complex, high‑profile capital improvement projects.

Pay: $60.00 per hour
Contract:
Full‑time, long‑term contract opportunity
Shift: Monday–Friday, Day Shift
Responsibilities- Lead the planning, design, and permitting phases for new construction, renovation, modular, and demolition projects.
- Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules across multiple concurrent job sites.
- Oversee design consultants to ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to budgetary goals.
- Direct all construction‑phase activities including procurement, bidding, and contractor performance.
- Conduct regular site visits for progress monitoring, safety, and compliance with design specifications.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, inspectors, and user agencies to ensure project success.
- Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documentation.
- Perform constructability reviews and participate in technical advisory committees.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering required. - Experience:
8–10 years of experience in construction management, engineering, or project oversight for vertical construction (new construction or major renovation). - Licensure:
Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) required; valid driver’s license required. - Preferred
Certifications:
Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), LEED Accreditation, or Value Engineering Certification. - Technical
Skills:- Proficiency in CPM scheduling and Microsoft Project.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with contractors and manage complex project documentation.
- Proven experience managing large vertical construction projects.
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and spoken English.
- A collaborative, team‑oriented mindset working with architects, engineers, contractors, and inspectors.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
