ECS is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to work remotely .

ECS is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to join a growing Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and AI/ML team in support of a government multi-cloud environment with 50+ customer tenants and growing. The Azure Cloud Engineer will support all phases of development, design, modernization, and rapid development of Azure solutions. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with complex, mission-critical systems and will bring both technical depth in Azure services and adaptability to help shape the modernization journey.

This role will serve as an engineer to support the development and infrastructure teams, ensuring that all cloud solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

The applicant must have hands on engineering and design experience and extensive Azure knowledge and experience with integration, system analysis or programming experience, including developing Azure systems requirements and design specification. A passion for performance, strong desire for quality conformance, and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position. Aside from technical qualifications, application should have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Key Responsibilities

• Azure Cloud Engineering and Architecture

• Provide subject matter expertise using best practices for designing cloud solutions. Consult, Develop of complex cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security

• Develop proofs of concept, and advise on the best use of Azure services to solve current challenges.

• Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, best practices, and security guidelines for cloud adoption and migration

• Provision, manage, and set up monitoring in Azure cloud services/systems (to include support with OS and application-level patching)

• Expert in Git Lab CI, repository and Ansible

• Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Pipelines, Azure Data Factory

• Familiarity with Azure data storage such SQL Server, SSIS, and data warehouse environments

• Understanding of identity and access management in complex enterprise environments is a plus

• Solution Design and Implementation

• Design and implement Azure-based solutions leveraging services such as Azure App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Functions, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Storage

• Set up automation, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates

• Ensure cloud solutions are designed for high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability

• Evaluate and select appropriate cloud services and technologies based on requirements and cost consideration to meet clients’ technical, security, and business needs

• Technical Leadership and Mentorship

• Serve as the technical platform engineer for Azure projects, providing guidance to development, operations, and infrastructure teams

• Mentor junior architects and engineers, fostering a place of continuous learning and technical excellence

• Drive innovation by researching and recommending new cloud services and solutions that align with the organization’s goals

• Security and Compliance

• Design secure cloud architecture, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and security standards

• Implement cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, network security, and data encryption

• Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify and address vulnerabilities in the cloud environment

• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, development teams, and project managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Communicate architectural decisions, strategy, and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Partner with other technical leaders to create a shared vision of cloud architecture and establish architectural principles for the organization

• Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting
