Land Development Staff Engineer - Electrical Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Design

Dewberry is currently seeking a Land Development Staff Engineer to work with our National Electrical Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Team. This position offers tremendous potential for professional growth in the quickly growing, fast‑paced EV infrastructure market and the opportunity to implement the latest EV charging technology to help clients develop a network of private, public, and fleet EV charging stations. Clients include utilities, transit authorities, and privately owned EV companies at the forefront of this technology.

This is an in‑office role with future flexibility for a hybrid role. A preference is given to candidates located in NJ, NYC, CA, MA, VA, and FL.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Project Managers to develop civil and electrical engineering designs for electric vehicle charging station projects, including preliminary design visits, conceptual plans, zoning/planning coordination, permit documentation, and construction‑level design plans. Exposure to Design/Build and Construction Management activities.
  • Prepare plans with CAD for submittal to local authorities.
  • Prepare project reports and submittals in collaboration with Senior Staff and Professional Engineers.
  • Assist the project management team with production and begin to incorporate project‑management responsibilities with oversight from senior staff.
  • Develop grading and storm‑water designs under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Perform field work to gather existing‑conditions information and conduct construction inspections.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • B.S. in Engineering is required.
  • 2–5 years of experience or previous land‑development design experience.
  • Experience in land development, grading, and storm‑water design.
  • Experience in EV, utility design, and solar design is desired.
  • Expertise in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.
  • An FE license is required for this PE track position.
  • Driving is a requirement; a clean driving record is required.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to repeatedly stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat, and lift 50 lbs, including body weight, equipment, tools, and boxes, and to stand for long periods on varied surfaces.

Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to pass a driving record background check.

  • NYC: $75,863–$99,100
  • CA: $75,863–$98,400
