Financial Manager
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial, operational, and strategic direction of the retail automotive company. This position will manage accounting, treasury, and compliance functions, ensuring financial stability in a low working‑capital environment while maintaining strong relationships with lenders and vendors. Play a key role in purchasing, vendor negotiations, and business operations—helping store managers enhance performance, optimize resources, and execute strategic initiatives.
This is a hands‑on role in a mid‑sized company. The ideal candidate must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and making decisions in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Oversee full‑cycle accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage treasury and liquidity, optimizing cash flow in a low working‑capital environment.
- Prepare financial materials for external CPA firm; manage ACA reporting and IRS submissions, and coordinate 401(k) testing data with ADP.
- Develop and implement KPIs to measure financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities for growth.
- Manage financial relationships with lenders, vendors, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
- Design and negotiate incentive‑based compensation plans.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, implementing tools that enhance decision‑making.
- Negotiate order terms ensuring purchasing decisions support both financial objectives and operational stability.
- Develop demand forecasts and manage recurring inventory orders.
- Conduct analyses for each order, assessing potential cost savings, vendor incentives, interest expense assistance, and overall impact on profitability.
- Work closely with store and department managers to identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze store performance, financial metrics, and customer insights.
- Provide coaching to managers, fostering a culture of accountability.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in a mid‑sized company.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, managing full‑cycle accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Strong treasury management skills and financial analysis abilities.
- Proven ability to lead complex purchasing and vendor negotiations.
- Expert‑level Excel skills and financial modeling (VBA a plus).
- Previous experience as a senior financial leader in the Automotive Retail industry.
- Experience implementing KPIs to drive performance and efficiency.
