• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub.
• Advanced knowledge of anatomy and anticipate instrumentation for each surgical step.
• Expedite procedures by anticipating surgeon needs.
• Adhere to aseptic and surgical techniques.
• Serve as preceptor for new and experienced staff in the scrub role.
• Provide working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation; assist in evaluating new products and equipment.

• Education:
  
  high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:
  
  1 year Surg Tech experience or equivalent.
• Certification:
  Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
• License:
  Virginia Registered Surgical Technologist.
